By system modeling I mean representing
a biological system of interest by a set of
discrete subsystems and analyzing the action of
the system in terms of the actions of each subsystem
and the interactions between them.
Each subsystem is
however a "black box", at this level of analysis
we are not concerned with the internal structure
of a subsystem, only with its external input/output
behavior. We can thus represent the action of any
subsystem using any technique that is useful.
